Cajuns Complete Sweep of Georgia State, 4-1

Freshman Nick Lee set the right tempo for the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Saturday and the Cajuns completed the three game sweep over Georgia State, defeating the Panthers 4-1 at M. L. "Tigue" Moore Field.

Lee (4-1) spotted the Panthers a first inning run on a Joey Roach homer, then shut the visitors down as the Cajuns dominated the rest of the way.

Lee allowed just five hits over 6.1 innings and struck out five without walking a batter.  The Panthers (12-12, 2-4 Sun Belt) got a runner to second base just one time after the first inning while Lee was in the game.

Bryan White (1-1) allowed seven hits and four runs over 5.2 innings in taking the loss.  He walked one and struck out five.

Louisiana (15-9, 6-3) got on the board in the third inning when Derek Herrington doubled to start the inning and scored on a Brenn Conrad double.  The Cajuns took the lead for good in the fourth on a double by Dylan Poncho and a single by Stefan Trosclair.

Lee, meanwhile allowed a one out bunt single to  Jaylen Woullard in the sixth and an infield hit to James Clements.  But Roach hit a ground ball to Brad Antchak to start a 6-4-3 double play, the Cajuns fifth twin killing of the series.

The Cajuns put the game away in the sixth when Poncho was hit by a pitch with one out.  Antchak singled him to third, but Poncho was retired on Trosclair's grounder to short.  Nick Thurman then singled home Antchak and Herrington followed with a ball down the right field line to score Trosclair and give the Cajuns a three run advantage.

Lee was replaced by Eric Carter in the seventh when Sam Few pinch hit with a runner at first and two out.   Carter got Few to ground out to second base to end the inning.

Dylan Moore came on to relieve Carter with two out and a runner at third in the eighth. He retired Clements on a grounder to end the inning and allowed just a walk in the ninth to notch his fifth save of the season.

Herrington and Poncho had two hits apiece as the Cajuns managed eight hits in the contest.  Conrad, Antchak, Trosclair and Thurman had one hit each.

The Cajuns played errorless ball in the three game series.

The Cajuns will now play seven of their next eight games on the road, beginning Tuesday at Nicholls State.
