Appalachian State running back Darrynton Evans, the 2019 Sun Belt Conference Offensive Player of the Year, has announced he will forego his senior season and enter the NFL Draft.

Evans went public with his decision in a tweet on Christmas Day, the fourth anniversary of his commitment to App State.

"Four years ago today I made one of the best decisions of my life by committing to play football at App State.  I was embraced by a first-class coaching staff, gifted teammates and the greatest student body.  My coaches became my mentors, my teammates became my brothers and App Nation became my family.....on Christmas Day 2015, I was afforded the opportunity to pursue my goal of receiving a college education while playing Division I collegiate football.  Today I get to follow another dream..."

Ethan Joyce of journalnow.com reported the story.

Evans rushed for 1540 yards and 18 touchdowns, including five games of 100 or more yards.  His best performance came in game two against Charlotte, when he rushed for 234 yards and scored four total touchdowns.  Evans added five more touchdowns receiving and another on a kick return in 2019, giving him 24 total touchdowns.
