UL Baseball Opens Conference Play Against Troy – Inside the Numbers
Louisiana’s Ragin’ Cajun baseball team returns to the diamond on Friday evening, when coach Tony Robichaux’s squad plays host to the Troy Trojans in the opening game of a three-game, weekend, Sun Belt Conference series at M.L. "Tigue" Moore Field.

The contest marks second game of a five-game homestand for UL, and the conference-opening series for both teams.
The Cajuns are currently 7-5 on the season, after defeating Northwestern St., 8-2, in non-conference action on Wednesday night.
Offensively, Louisiana is hitting a .276, along with five home runs, 61 runs batted in, and 19 stolen bases in 27 attempts, while out-scoring foes, 71-52.
Pitching-wise, the Cajuns sport an overall, combined, team ERA. of 3.27, compared to a 5.10 for the opposition, while holding foes to a .228 batting average against.
Troy will enter the match-up at 7-5.
The Trojans are currently hitting a .284 as a team, along with eight homers, and 57 RBI’s, while out-scoring opponents, 59-46.
On the mound, Troy currently has an overall, combined, team ERA. of 2.59, while holding opponents to a .210 batting average against.
A pair of freshmen right-handers will square off on the mound as Corey Childress (2-0, 1.35) will take the bump for Troy, while Evan Guillory (1-0, 4.30) gets the start for UL in Friday's opener. Grant Bennett (2-0, 0.90) and Greg Milhorn (0-0, 4.91) will take the ball on Saturday. Freshman left-hander Gunner Leger (0-0, 2.50) gets the nod on Sunday for the Cajuns, while Troy has yet to name a starter for the finale.
Game times are 6 o’clock on Friday night, 2 pm on Saturday afternoon, and 1 o’clock for the series finale on Sunday afternoon.
