The New Orleans Saints agreed to a 3-year contract with safety Marcus Ball (pictured) on Wednesday.

Ball, 26, is a standout from the Toronto Argonauts of the Canadian Football League, playing linebacker in two CFL seasons. He won a Grey Cup championship with the Argonauts in 2012. Ball played safety in college at the University of Memphis his senior year.

At 6-1, 209 pounds, Ball is known for his physicality, showing an ability to leave "remember me" hits. In two CFL seasons, he registered 142 tackles, 7 sacks, 4 interceptions, 2 returned for touchdowns and 3 fumble recoveries.

Safety is still a position of focus for New Orleans, even after signing All-Pro Jairus Byrd in free agency. With the signing of Ball, the Saints only have 3 safeties on the roster (Byrd, Ball, Kenny Vaccaro).

Safety Rafael Bush received a restricted free agent tender from the Saints worth $1.4 million. He has yet to sign the offer sheet.
