With the second of their two fifth round picks (169 overall), the New Orleans Saints selected Florida LB Ronald Powell.

Powell looks the part, possessing prototype size for an outside linebacker (6'4, 240 pounds).

He excelled for the Gators as on the edge, displaying elite agility.

As a stand-up rush linebacker, his biggest challenge has been the injury bug. Powell tore his left ACL on two different occasions as a Junior. He earned a medical redshirt, and returned to field in 2013 for Florida, starting in 8 games.

Most NFL pundits describe Powell as a player with untapped potential. While he relied on natural God-given ability for the Gators, he'll have to work on his game to make it with the Saints.

Powell is the 2nd OLB the Saints have drafted this year, taking Cal's Khairi Fortt in the 4th round.
