Having stability at kicker for any football team is more of a luxury than many realize.

For coaches, players and fans, having confidence the kick is going to sail through the uprights, whether from 20 yards or 50 yards, isn't always a given.

For New Orleans Saints fans, 24 year old Wil Lutz has proven to be reliable.

In the opening month of the season, Lutz made 10 of 11 field-goal attempts, all of his extra points, and nailed a late field goal in a narrow 21-18 week 2 victory over Cleveland.

Last Sunday at Metlife Stadium in New Jersey, Lutz was a perfect 4-4 on field goals, but actually had to kick two field goals twice, once because time expired in the first quarter, and later after the Saints were charged with a holding penalty. No problem for Lutz, who proved to be a big key in the Saints 33-18 victory over the New York Giants.

Today, he was named the NFC Defensive Player of the Month. He earned it.
