Saints, Brees Not Close to Extension Agreement

The NFL season starts tonight and Drew Brees will be the quarterback of the New Orleans Saints.

The Saints and Brees' agent have been talking about a contract extension, but so far the two sides are pretty far apart.

Brees is in the final year of the $60 million contract that he signed as a free agent prior to the 2006 season.

The two sides were hoping to have the extension done before the start of the season, but it's not going to happen.

New Orleans has been in the playoffs in three of the five years that Brees has been the quarterback.
