Report: Saints Sign DT Malcom Brown To 3 Year, $15 Million Deal
Defensive tackle Malcom Brown, a first round pick by the New England Patriots in 2015, has agreed to a 3 year, $15 million deal with the New Orleans Saints, according to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network.
New England declined to pick up the 5th year team option from his rookie contract last offseason, leading him into free agency this year.
Current Saints defensive tackle Sheldon Rankins tore his Achilles in the divisional round of the playoffs two months ago, and may not be 100% at the start of next season.
Current Saints defensive tackle David Onyemata was issued a misdemeanor summons for marijuana possession last month, and could face discipline from the league, possibly a multi-game suspension to begin the 2019 season.
Another starting defensive tackle from 2018 for the Saints is Tyeler Davison, who is currently an unsigned free agent.
With all that, the Saints were in the market for a defensive tackle, and now have one in Brown.
In 4 seasons as a run stuffer for the Patriots, Brown has 186 tackles, 8.5 sacks and 1 safety.
