Referee from Last Year’s NFC Title Game Will Ref Super Bowl
Many will believe this is NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell's latest way of saying "na na na na boo boo" to the Saints.
Bill Vinovich, who was the referee in the NFC Championship Game between the New Orleans Saints and Los Angeles Rams, has been named the referee for Super Bowl LIV, set for February 2nd at Hard Rock Stadium in South Florida.
The Rams defeated the Saints in overtime after Vinovich's crew failed to call an obvious pass interference against the Rams that would have given the Saints a berth in Super Bowl LIII. Afterward, Vinovich's famous quote, "I personally have not seen the play" was the topic of disdain from Saints' fans.
Upon hearing of the assignment, Saints' wide receiver Michael Thomas took to his Twitter feed:
Vinovich previously worked as the referee in Super Bowl XLIX between the Patriots and Seahawks in Glendale, AZ.
