Pro Bowl Selections Announced, No Saints Make The Team

For the second consecutive season, the New Orleans Saints were shutout of the NFL Pro Bowl.

Defensive end Cameron Jordan played in the game last year, but was an alternate and not among the primary selections.

Quarterback Drew Brees was passed up for Matt Ryan of the Atlanta Falcons, Aaron Rodgers of the Green Bay Packers and rookie Dak Prescott of the Dallas Cowboys.

Brees is the league leader in passing yards (4,559) and touchdown passes (34).

Other Saints having solid seasons who were hopeful for Pro Bowl bids included defensive end Cam Jordan, defensive tackle Nick Fairley and fullback John Kuhn.

The Saints losing record (6-8) is likely the biggest culprit in several worthy players not making the cut.

Five other teams were shut out of the Pro Bowl roster, including the San Francisco 49ers, Jacksonville Jaguars, Detroit Lions, Chicago Bears and New York Jets.
