Veteran free agent wide receiver Steve Breaston signed a one year deal with the New Orleans Saints today.

Breaston, 29, had his best years with the Arizona Cardinals ('07-'10), where he reeled in 179 receptions for 2,436 yards and 7 touchdowns during the '08, '09, and '10 seasons. He signed with the Kansas City Chiefs in 2011, and caught 61 balls for 785 yards and 2 touchdowns in his first year with the team. However, last year he dealt with knee injuries, only catching 7 passes in 10 games. He was released by the Chiefs after last season.

Health will determine Breaston's role with the Saints and whether or not he makes the roster. The health of Breston's knee, as well as the health of the Saints' wide receivers. Starter Marques Colston practice for the first time today after spending the beginning of camp on the PUP (physically unable to perform) list with a foot injury. Joe Morgan injured himself during Saturday's black and gold scrimmage.

Breaston reportedly considered traveling to Germany for extensive Regenokine treatment in an effort to repair knee inflammation and early arthritic symptoms.
