When the New Orleans Saints lost talented defensive lineman Sheldon Rankins late last season to injury the thought was they needed to add depth this off-season to help replace that loss.

They did just that by adding Malcolm Brown at nose tackle and Mario Edwards but on Wednesday they added another piece in Ziggy Hood.

Hood split the season last year between the Washington Redskins (8 games) and the Miami Dolphins (5 games). He didn't have an impressive output as he recorded just nine tackles in those 13 games played.

Hood was drafted in the first-round of the 2009 NFL Draft by the Pittsburgh Steelers and spent five seasons with the team before he signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2014 as a free agent. He played for the Chicago Bears to begin the 2015 season and  he finished it in Washington.

He's only 32 years old and New Orleans is hoping they can get some production out of him come this season along the defensive line.
