LSU fans who were hoping that Lane Kiffin would become their team's offensive coordinator will be a bit disappointed with the news that the Alabama coach is reportedly heading to Houston, barring a final review by the University President.

According to the USA Today, the University of Houston could announce Kiffin soon as their new head coach pending a Thursday meeting at which school President Renu Khator will have to give the final approval.

Kiffin would replace Tom Herman, who left to take the top job at Texas after two seasons.

The 41-year-old Kiffin has had two head coaching jobs in college football. He spent three-plus years at USC and prior to that was at Tennessee for one season. His career record is 35-21.

He was fired from USC five games into the 2013 season but quickly landed on his feet at Alabama in 2014 and rebuilt his reputation with his work at that dominant program.
