The flu bug has been prevalent in Louisiana this winter and Lafayette is, unfortunately, leading the way.

According to a Walgreen's index, Metro Lafayette ranks as number four in the nation with rampant flu activity. The Monroe area ranks number five.

The Center for Disease Control says it's never too late to get vaccinated. They say it is the best way to avoid the flu.

Other tips from the CDC include proper handwashing techniques to help prevent the spread of germs. They also suggest covering your hands and mouth when coughing or sneezing.

Also, avoid close contact and the sharing of food and drinks. Most importantly, if you feel sick, stay home.

Don't be a big shot and heed this common-sense approach to avoiding and/or conquering the flu.
