Major League Baseball announced it's 2014 Rookie of the Year Award winners on Monday, with Chicago White Sox first baseman Jose Abreu being tabbed in the American League, and New York Mets pitcher Jacob deGrom being selected in the National League.

The 27-year old Abreu, who defected from Cuba in August of 2013, signed as a free agent with the White Sox for $68 million over six years prior to the 2014 season and paid immediate dividends, batting a .317, with 36 home runs, and 107 runs batted in.

The 26-year old deGrom didn't join the Mets until mid-May, but made up for lost time, compiling a record of 9-6, with a 2.69 ERA over 22 starts.
