Jared Cook Finally Officially Signs With The Saints
After a week of reports that free agent tight end Jared Cook would eventually sign with the Saints, it finally occurred today.
New Orleans General Manager Mickey Loomis announced the signing this morning, as the 6'5, 254 pound Cook will look to fill a big void in the Saints offense.
According to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, Cook's deal is for 2 years, worth a total of $15.5 million, including $8 million guaranteed.
Veteran tight end Ben Watson retired in the offseason, and New Orleans roster had one notable tight end with experience left in Josh Hill.
While Hill is serviceable, he's not a top tier receiving threat.
Cook, a 10 year veteran who has spent time with the Titans, Rams, Packers and most recently the Raiders, has 425 receptions for 5,464 yards (12.9 avg.) with 25 touchdowns in his career, and is coming off a strong year.
Last season with Oakland, Cook reeled in 68 catches for 896 yards (13.2 avg.) and 6 touchdowns, all single season career highs.
