It's a bird. It's a plane. No, it's a multicopter!

This video is of a new kind of helicopter, called a multicopter.

Thomas Senkel, the engineer of the device, recently took the multicopter on it's first flight.

The multicopter is currently only able to fly for around 20 minutes because it runs on lithium-ion batteries.

It's inventors claim their flying machine could be used for inspecting pipelines, as an air ambulance or for taking aerial photographs - as well as just for fun.

The multicopter can hover motionless in the air, without any help from the pilot, who can guide the machine with only a joystick.

How would you like to arrive to work in one of these?
