They didn't defend well.

They didn't rebound well.

They didn't win.

The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns saw their ten game winning streak come to an end Thursday night, falling to Georgia State 106-92 at the GSU Sports Arena in Atlanta.

"We got outplayed tonight," head coach Bob Marlin said.  "We couldn't control them and we did a poor job rebounding the basketball."

The Panthers put six players in double figures, with D'Marcus Simonds and Jordan Session leading the way with 22 points each.  For Session, it was a career high, besting the 15 points earlier this season against Tulane.

"We couldn't keep Simonds in front of us," Marlin said.  "He's a really good player."

Simonds added nine rebounds and eight assists, turning the ball over just one time.  Devin Mitchell added 20 points on 7-11 shooting including 5-9 from beyond the arc.  Jeff Thomas scored 18, Malik Benlevi had a double double with 13 points and 12 rebounds, while Isaiah Williams scored eleven off the bench.

The Cajuns placed five in double digits with Frank Bartley leading the way with 21 points.  JaKeenan Gant added 18, while freshman Cedric Russell had 15 on 5-7 three point shooting.  Johnathan Stove and Bryce Washington added ten points apiece.  Washington added six rebounds, giving him exactly 1,000 for his career.

Marcus Stroman came close to a triple double for the Cajuns, scoring nine points with eight rebounds and a career high 15 assists.  He turned the ball over only once.

Georgia State (19-6, 10-2 Sun Belt) shot 54.4 percent from the field, including 12-27 from the three point line and made 87% of their free throws (20-23).  Louisiana (20-4, 10-1) shot just 36% in the second half and finished at 43% from the field.  The Cajuns made 12-31 from beyond the arc, but just 3-12 after intermission.  The Cajuns were 20-29 from the free throw line.

Louisiana had 23 assists in the game and turned it over just seven times.  But the Cajuns were outrebounded 43-33, with Washington and Gant combining for just eight rebounds in the game.

The Cajuns trailed by eleven points, 51-40 with 1:38 to play in the half, but Bartley scored five straight points to cut the lead to six at the break.  But the Cajuns couldn't get any closer than four points and the Panthers never trailed by fewer than ten points in the final 12 minutes, enjoying as much as a 20 point margin in the second half.

Louisiana finished the three game road trip on Saturday in Statesboro against Georgia Southern.  Game time is at 4:00 pm.
