Five Former Cajun Softball Players Named To All-Time Southland Conference Team
Pitcher Kim Eisnaugle, first baseman Allison Gray, outfielder/designated hitter Sandy Percle, third baseman/utility player Sharen Wynn, and second baseman Lesley Zeller are five former members of Louisiana's Ragin' Cajun softball team that were named to the All-Time Southland Conference softball team, that was released last week.
Louisiana, who at the time was USL, played softball in the conference, which is celebrating it's 50th anniversary, from 1983-1987, winning two tournament titles, and finishing as runner-up twice as well.
Eisnaugle, who pitched for the Cajuns from 1983-1986, was a four-time First-team All-Southland Conference selection, including winning the Southland Conference Pitcher of the Year Award in 1983, 1984, and 1985. She compiled a 0.52 ERA. in 1984, which is tied for the SLC single-season low.
Eisnaugle, who joined the program in it's third year of existence, compiled a record of 68-19, with 20-win seasons as a sophomore in 1984 (21-7) and a junior in 1985 (20-7).
She struck out 812 batters in 689 2/3 innings of work, with a 0.75.ERA, and five no-hitters.
Gray, who joined the Cajun program in it's fourth year of existence, 1984, was a four-time All-Southland Conference First-team selection, from 1984-1987.
Gremillion was a four-time All-Southland Conference First-team selection, from 1984-1987. She was named the 1987 Southland Conference Hitter of the Year.
Percle was also a four-time All-Southland Conference First-team selection, from 1983-1986. She was named the 1983 and 1984 Southland Conference Hitter of the Year.
Wynn was a three-time First-Team All-Southland Conference selection, from 1983-1985, and led the SLC in hits in 1985.
Zeller was a First-team All-Southland Conference pick in both 1986 and 1987. She was tragically killed in a 1987 automobile accident at the age of 22.
