Bob Marlin and the Louisiana Ragin' Cajun basketball team announced the addition of point guard Jay Wright to the 2014-15 roster. Wright will have 3 years of eligibility. He committed to the Cajuns on May 13th, but the signing became official on Wednesday.

Wright prepped at Effingham Country (Ga.), averaging 12 points, 5.1 assists, 3.9 rebounds and 2.5 steals in his senior season of 2012-13.

Last season, Wright played at Casper Junior College in Wyoming, where he earned North Conference Player of the Year honors, averaging 16.5 points, 5.0 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 1.9 steals per game.

"Jay is a quality person who gives us an experienced point guard in the backcourt," head coach Bob Marlin said of his new addition. "He is athletic, a good defender, and has the ability to get in the paint on the offensive side of the ball. He also has three years to play and we are excited to have him on our team. Like our other signees he is all about winning."

At 6'1, 180 pounds, Wright will compete for the starting point guard spot left open by the departure of Elfrid Payton for the NBA draft.
