When it comes to deciding who the best player from West Virginia, ever drafted by the Saints is, the choice is limited to quarterback Marc Bulger (2000), running back Bob Gresham (1971), and defensive end/linebacker Renaldo Turnbull (1990).

The pick is going to be Turnbull, a defensive end/linebacker, who played 7 years for the Saints, from 1990-1996.

A native of St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands, Turnbull, who was the 14th-overall pick of the 1990 NFL Draft, was a reserve in his first three seasons in the NFL, totaling 60 tackles and 11.5 sacks, including 9 in his rookie campaign.

The 6-foot-4, 250-pound Turnbull became at full-time starter at right-outside linebacker in 1993, replacing former starter Pat Swilling, who was traded to the Detroit Lions.

He was exceptional in 1993, accumulating career-highs in both tackles, with 63, and sacks, with 13, while being named to the Pro Bowl.

Turnbull, although solid, never matched the success in he had in 1993 in his last three years with the Saints, totaling 86 total tackles and 20 sacks over that time-span, while playing both outside linebacker and defensive end.

Following the 1996 season Turnbull left the Saints, playing two games for the Carolina Panthers in 1997, where he had one sack.

In 7 seasons with the Saints, Turnbull played in 120 games, including 60 as a starter, compiling 225 total tackles and 45.5 sacks.

In 8 NFL seasons, all but one with the Saints, Turnbull appeared in 122 games, including 60 as a starter, compiling 236 tackles, 46.5 sacks, 7 fumble recoveries, d on interception.
