West Virginia, Michigan State Fall to Unranked Opponents
Every night is an adventure in college basketball.
Both #6 West Virginia and #11 Michigan State were upset by unranked conference opponents....at home.
The Mountaineers (15-3, 4-2 Big 12) fell in Morgantown to unranked Texas (12-6, 4-2) 56-49 Coach Bob Huggins' team had an absolutely miserable shooting night, going 19-61 from the field, 3-21 from three point range and just 8-23 from the free throw line. Even a +16 rebound margin wasn't enough to stave off Shaka Smart's Longhorns.
Meanwhile, in East Lansing, Michigan, the Michigan State Spartans (17-4, 3-4), ranked #1 earlier in the season, fell to Nebraska (12-8, 4-3) by the score of 72-71. Shavon Shields, playing with an injured hip, scored 28 points for the Cornhuskers. Denzel Valentine missed a shot just before the buzzer that would have won the game.
Yep. Every night is an adventure.
