UFC Fighter Jon Jones Charged With Battery In Strip Club Incident
Jon 'Bones' Jones, UFC's current light heavyweight champion, has a history of incidents outside the octagon. The latest is a battery charge from a strip club incident.
Per KRQE television in New Mexico, reported last night Jones visited TD’s Eubank Showclub in Alburquerque in April, where a cocktail waitress told police he "slapped her inappropriately, and pulled her down to his lap and kissed her neck, while she was at work".
She also told officers Jones placed her in a chokehold, then picked her up off the floor. After asking him to stop, the woman alleges Jones continued to touch her before leaving the club on his own accord.
KRQE reports a spokesperson for Jones claimed he didn't know about the charge until the television station reported it.
Court record show Jones did not appear at his bond arraignment in June for the battery charge, something Jones' spokesperson says was due to an incorrect address. Online records show a letter sent to an address for Jones to alert him of the warrant bounced back to the courthouse.
"Today, the media told Mr. Jones about a false accusation launched against him and that paperwork had been sent to an incorrect address," Hallinan said in a statement to KRQE. "However, after receiving the documents from the press, Mr. Jones immediately went to pay the small fee, and he, and multiple witnesses, stand ready to factually refute the malicious lies being told about him to the public."
Jones, 32, has a criminal history. He pleaded guilty to a DWI charge in 2012. In 2015, he was found guilty of a hit-and-run charge in which he received probation and community service. However, he violated his probation in 2016 for alleged drag racing.
The ultra-talented fighter has also failed multiple drug tests during his checkered UFC career.
