Payless Pop-Up Shop Tricks People With Fake Store
How much would you pay for a pair of shoes? $20? $100? $600? Payless proved that it's not the price that makes the pair with their fake luxury pop-up shop, Palessi.
According to CNN, the budget-friendly shoe chain invited 80 social media influencers to their Palessi pop-up shop over two nights as part of a marketing campaign to remind shoppers that "affordable shoes are fashionable too."
One influencer actually purchased a pair of boots for $680, a 1,800% markup, while another shopper described the shoes as "elegant and sophisticated".
