In Louisiana, Even Your Car Knows What Season It Is
(KPEL-FM) - By now you're aware that Louisiana is just a little different from the rest of the country. Our system of laws, utilization of parishes instead of counties, music, food and culture are some of what make us so unique. We also have a different perception of seasons. Not many other places measure time by food, but we do. From Gumbo Season to Crawfish Season, it's just something we live here in the Bayou State.
Louisiana Doesn’t Follow Traditional Seasons
Louisiana is ranked in the top 10 of states for number of festivals according to a study by The Lompoc Record (and that only measures music festivals). The sheer number of types of food festivals in existence in Louisiana pushes the total number to over 400, putting us on par with states like California, Florida and Wisconsin. With all these established events, it's pretty easy to tell what time of year it is based on which festival is approaching.

Louisiana is unique in how cars have their own seasonal signs. Yes, even non-smart cars do have a certain level of awareness, even though you may not have considered it. If you just know where to look, you'll see the car giving you signs of the season. Most of the signs can be found in or on your vehicle, and one is obvious while driving in your car.
Even Your Car Knows What Season it Is
These signs are fairly accurate as well, giving drivers even more confirmation of what season we're in. The next time you get in your vehicle (which you've hopefully named), say thanks for being there, getting you where you need to go, doing its best to protect you and in some cases, even inform you.
