For the third time in the last five years, the San Francisco Giants are World Champions.

San Francisco defeated the Kansas City Royals, 3-2, in Game 7 of the 2014 World Series last night at Kauffman Stadium in Kansas city, Missouri, to win the best-of-seven game series, 4-3.

The Giants scored two runs in the top of the second inning, the first on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Michael Morse, and the second coming on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Brandon Crawford, to take a 2-0 lead:

Kansas City came right back in the bottom of the second with two runs of their own. The first run crossed the plate when Alex Gordon doubled home Billy Butler:

The Royals then tied the game, 2-2, on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Omar Infante:

The score stayed that way until the top of the fourth inning, when Morse delivered a broken bat single to left, scoring Pablo Sandoval with the go-ahead, and game-winning run for San Francisco:

The Royals threatened in the bottom of the ninth inning, when Gordon singled with two outs, and then went to third, after a miscue by Gregor Blanco:

The game ended when Madison Bumgarner got Salvador Perez to pop out, giving the Giants the win, and the series win:

The story was Bumgarner. The lefty, pitching on only two days rest, pitched five innings of scoreless relief to earn the save. That, and his two wins, earned Bumgarner MVP honors in the series.

After the game, the Giants were presented the Commissioner's Trophy, and Bumgarner was presented with his MVP Award:

After the game, teammates Buster Posey and Jeremy Affeldt talked about Bumgarner's performance:

Also in the postgame, Bumgarner and Giants manager Bruce Bochy reflected on the win:

Meanwhile Kansas City manager Ned Yost, along with his team, were disappointed in the loss, but very proud in what they accomplished this year:

For the Giants, it's their eight World Series title in franchise history:
