Fantasy Football: G’s Week Five Waiver Wire Tuesday Pick-Up’s
Ah, fantasy football is in the air and it's everyone's favorite day during the week leading up to the games, Waiver Wire Tuesday.
As we did last season I'll be breaking down the best players to add off the waiver wire to your fantasy football rosters on a weekly basis. Maybe there's an injury or a player who's just not performing up to expectations, dump them and find yourself a gem off the waiver wire that'll help you dominate.
Also, as a rule of thumb, if you're new to our weekly fantasy football column we don't look at players off the waiver wire who are owned in more than 50% of leagues and we use ESPN.
This week we continue on with the dreaded bye weeks but thankfully there are still only two teams with Sunday off this week. In addition, we've got a couple of players dealing with injuries, and we're going to need to replace them because some of them are going to miss a couple of weeks.
BYE WEEK: Detroit Lions, Miami Dolphins
Ronald Jones, TB (41% Owned)
I'm not going to lie to you, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers backfield is a tricky one to figure out and hasn't been a fantasy owner's best friend over the last couple of years. However, dare I say we may actually be seeing some consistency from one of the backs? Ronald Jones seems to be the guy and he's produced double-digit fantasy points the last two weeks. Peyton Barber may remain the "starter" but simply put Jones' ability has seemed to flash more this season than last year as a rookie. Also, Jones out-snapped Barber for the first time ever in a game during week four. Seems the tide may be turning in Tampa.
Darrell Williams, KC (44% Owned)
Much unlike the previously mentioned Tampa Bay offense, the Kansas City offense is the best in the league and when you're getting snaps in the best offense in the league good things are going to happen. Well, they've certainly been happening for Williams as he's filled in nicely for the injured Damien Williams the past couple of weeks. Darrell scored on two of his eight carries on Sunday and added three receptions for 43 yards for some added PPR value. As long as the other Williams is out you can count on Darrell to get opportunities in this dangerous KC offense.
Geronimo Allison, GB (27% Owned)
I understand that Geronimo hasn't displayed the sort of consistency that fantasy owners value when it comes to wide receivers as he's slotted in as the third-ish option behind Devante Adams and maybe MVS? However, with the current status of Adams squarely up in the air and leaning towards not playing this week, somebody is going to have to step up in his absence against the Dallas Cowboys. We all know that Aaron Rodgers is a part-owner of Jerry World with so many memorable moments coming in that stadium. So, if I'm going to assume Rodgers is going to play well that means the receivers he'll have at his disposal will as well. That's why I'm rolling with Allison this week.
Corey Davis, TEN (46% Owned)
The Tennessee Titans offense is nothing to write home about, we know this but Corey Davis is arguably the most talented receiving option the inconsistent Marcus Mariota has to throw to. However, that's the problem right there, inconsistent QB play from Mariota has held Davis' production back. Now, I don't think Davis is a good play against a tenacious Buffalo Bills defense but as the bye weeks begin to get hot and heavy Davis may be a useful piece to have rostered.
Cole Beasley, JAX (21% Owned)
This man is a target machine like you'd think he has some sort of football magnet attached to him somewhere lately. The Bills love what he brings to their offense as a dependable slot receiver and over the past three weeks, he's shown consistency. He's scored double-digit fantasy points in three straight games and over the last two, he's racked up 23 targets from Josh Allen. Now, there are two things I will mention when it comes to Beasley, he's yet to find pay-dirt and Josh Allen is questionable. Allen is currently in the concussion protocol after having to leave Sunday's game early against the New England Patriots. If he's not able to go against the Titans this weekend then maybe temper the enthusiasm on Bease for this week but he should be rostered.
Best of luck in week five.
