If you've been a Cox customer, get ready to see a new name on your bill. Spectrum has officially completed its acquisition of Cox Communications, and current Cox customers are now Spectrum customers. Here's the part that'll probably ease the most anxiety. You will not see any pricing or service changes right now unless you ask for them yourself. I've got an internet package with Cox that I was hoping would stay the same. According to Spectrum, I'll be able to keep it. Spectrum says its priority is making this a smooth, thoughtful transition, not a startling one.

A Free Year Of Mobile Service

As a welcome to Spectrum, new customers coming over from Cox can get one line of mobile service free for a year, according to their announcement. It's a great way to test out their service without a commitment. Spectrum's been billing itself as America's fastest growing mobile provider, and they're backing that up with no contracts on any Spectrum product, so you're never locked in. They're also guaranteeing you'll save over $1,000 a year by switching to Spectrum Internet and Mobile, or they'll cover the difference. Worth looking into if you haven't already bundled your mobile line.

More Streaming, Included At No Extra Cost

This is the one I think a lot of folks will actually notice in their day to day. Spectrum's philosophy is that no customer should pay for TV content twice, so customers with eligible TV plans will soon get streaming apps like HBO Max, the Disney+ Hulu bundle, ESPN, Paramount+, Peacock, AMC+, ViX and more, all bundled in. That's a value of more than $125 a month, included at no extra cost for as long as you keep the service. Spectrum says it'll share timing and details soon, so if you don't have a TV plan yet, now might be a good time to look into starting one (will definitely be looking into this).

What Changes Down The Road

Beyond the immediate perks, Spectrum is promising bigger investments over time. They're talking about continued improvements to simplicity, flexibility and value across their products, along with ongoing investment in what they're calling the most expansive and dependable network in the country.
