Chipper Jones is one of those rare guys in baseball.
Jones was the first pick taken in the 1990 draft by the Atlanta Braves. And, he's been a member of the Braves ever since.
No team jumping. No testing the free agent market. No trades.
And, he'll retire as a member of the Braves.
Jones today announced the 2012 season will be his last, bringing to an end one of the best careers ever for a switch hitter.
Jones' 454 career home runs are third all-time for a switch hitter, with Mickey Mantle and Eddie Murray the only ones who have hit more. Both are in the Hall of Fame.
And, Jones also has a career batting average over .300. Frankie Frisch and Pete Rose are the only switch hitters with a lifetime .300 average.
Jones, 40, has been a batting champion, an MVP and is a seven time all star.
