Baylor Bears football coach Art Briles has been fired amidst findings the University failed in properly investigating sexual assault cases involving football players, according to a release from the University.

In addition to Briles firing, Baylor athletic director Ian McCall has been sanctioned and put on probation, University President Ken Starr has been demoted, and an unspecified number of unnamed athletic staffers and school administrators have been fired.

Pepper Hamilton, a law firm hired to investigate the disturbing trends of sexual assault cases involving Baylor football players and a lack of thorough investigation into each case, released their findings after a 9 month investigation. The 13 page report can be read here.

Briles took over as Baylor head coach in 2007, going 65-37 in his 9 seasons at the helm.
