After 8 amazing seasons at Boise State, where he compiled a 92-12 record, 5 conference championships, and 2 fiesta bowl championships, Chris Petersen is leaving the potato state for the University of Washington.

Washington lost their former head coach Steve Sarkisian, who was hired by USC earlier this week. Peterson, a California native, will be one of the highest-paid coaches in the Pac-12, according to ESPN sources.

After unprecedented success in Boise, the Bronco fan base is sad to see Petersen go.

Boise State president Bob Kustra released the following statement: "I know Bronco Nation joins me in thanking Chris Petersen for all he did to advance Boise State's football program over the past 13 years. He is not only a great coach but a great person and an asset to the community. We were lucky to have him at Boise State, and Washington is lucky to get him."

Petersen has been approached by several Pac-12 schools in the past, including USC, UCLA and Stanford, about filling their head coaching slot, only to say, "No thank you," and remain at Boise State. Washington is happy to have him.

Scott Woodward, Washington athletic director, released the following statement about the hire: "Coach Petersen's success and record are extraordinary, but even more impressive is the man himself. His integrity, work ethic and character make him an outstanding fit and leader of our student-athletes at U.W.. We are thrilled and proud to call Coach Petersen a Husky."
