Could a Sun Belt Conference team soon be losing a former softball Freshman of the Year in the league?

Troy pitcher Annie Willis, first-team All-Sun Belt Conference selection and the conference Freshman of the Year in 2018, is among the more than 250 NCAA softball players from around the country who have entered their names into the transfer portal.

A native of Huntsville, Alabama, Willis finished the 2018 season with a 17-9 record, to go along with a 2.57 ERA, good enough for her first-team All-Sun Belt Conference and Freshman of the Year accolades.

In 2019, Willis, pitching behind Troy ace Leanna Johnson, went 9-10 with a 2.75 ERA.

Willis has two years of eligibility remaining.

Infielders Hope Hernandez and Bailey Taylor, who both have two years of eligibility remaining, have also entered the transfer portal.
