Reggie Bush Anxious About Return

Reggie Bush is "chomping at the bit" to get back on the football field this Sunday as the Saints host the Seahawks in the Superdome. He met with the media in New Orleans today to discuss how he feels, and when the coaching staff will officially announce that he's playing.

Bush was limited in team drills today, saying afterward, "I felt pretty good today practicing out there. I think it was a little stiff at first, but once I got running around it felt pretty good. I'm just taking it day by day at this point and looking to obviously get back out there this weekend. But obviously the final decision will come toward the end of the week, and we'll see what happens. I feel like this is a good weekend to get out there."

Reggie commented more about his status, and why this particular injury is unlike from ones he's experienced in the past. "This is a different injury for me. I've never had an injury like this before, so ultimately it's not just my decision," explained Bush. "It's a team of us. It's me, it's the coaches, it's the trainers and the doctors. ... If it were up to me, I would have been playing. Even with the broken leg."

National pundits, including Ryen Russillo on the Scott Van Pelt show today on Sportsradio ESPN1420 suggested Bush might have extra motivation Sunday as he plays against his former college coach Pete Carroll.  Bush disagrees, "Not at all. There's no extra incentive. We do talk. I still have the utmost respect for him and highest regards for him. I love him to death. But there's no extra incentive to get back out there this week just because we're playing against him. I just want to be back out there in general, whether we were playing him or whoever. It really doesn't matter. It's a faceless opponent. We have to look at that as a team. It's not just about my own selfish personal wants."
