The LSU Tigers defense got a welcomed boost on Tuesday, the final day of 2019, as Ed Orgeron who on a teleconference confirmed that senior linebacker Michael Divinity will return to action on Jan. 13 against Clemson.

Here's what Coach O said regarding the reinstatement of his senior linebacker, "We've got breaking news. Michael Divinity will be back with the team," said Orgeron. "The final decision was made this morning. How about that, huh? Good deal. Obviously, Michael has been a tremendous pass rusher for us. I know we're definitely going to use him. We'll see what fits best, but he's definitely going to play for us. We'll use him in the best situation we can."

Divinity was dismissed from the team in early November right before the team was scheduled to face the Alabama Crimson Tide. After that game, he was allowed to rejoin the team as a practice player and the idea was floated out there that if the team made it to the National Championship Game he would have the ability to suit up for the Tigers once again. LSU's drug testing policy states that an athlete who tests positive four or more times must miss at least half the season, and Divinity has done that.

LSU has made it to National Championship Game so Coach O stayed true to his word and Divinity will return. Apparently, he let us know via Twitter before Orgeron confirmed it on Tuesday:

Michael Divinity has missed the previous six games but before he was dismissed from the team he was the team's leader in sacks, a solid tackler, and a leader on the field.

It should be fun to see this guy back flying around the field for one more go around as a Tiger.
