LSU Comes up Short in Tuscaloosa Against Alabama
Nick Saban and Alabama continue to give LSU fits on the gridiron as they come away with a victory on Saturday night 24-10.
On this night the LSU offense ran better than it did when it got shut out 10-0 against the Crimson Tide last season. If you would have told me that the Tigers would out-gained Alabama for the game I would have felt pretty good about their chances.
LSU out rushed Bama 151 to 116 but they held the edge in terms of touchdowns, two to one. As far as passing goes, Jalen Hurts wasn't phenomenal but he was able to extend plays with his legs and make the throws when he needed to. As for Danny Etling, he played very good in the first half despite an interception.
However, where Danny Etling and LSU really missed in this game was the big play. Etling had a handful of chances to connect with receivers down the field for big gains but was always just a little bit off.
Both of these squads have exceptional defenses and they showed up and made things difficult for the opposing offenses in this game. LSU had a total of four sacks, seven tackles for loss, and seven pass break ups. Alabama's defense was even better with, six sacks, nine tackles for loss, and four pass break ups.
The big things that stood out in this game on a positive note for LSU, Arden Key and Devin White were all over the place on defense and Derrius Guice and Darrel Williams were very efficient running the football.
With the loss LSU drops to 6-3 overall and 3-2 in SEC play.
Up next for the LSU Tigers will be a home match-up with the Arkansas Razorbacks.
