For the 24 year old Thomas, it was his fourth win on the tour this year, but his first major championship.  Thomas shot a 3 under par 68 in the final round at Quail Hollow in Charlotte, NC.

There was a logjam at the top of the leaderboard as the field went to the back nine, with five golfers at -7.  Thomas had birdies on 10, 13 and 17 and, by the time he took the bogey on 18, he had a two shot lead.

Thomas shot a two over par 73 in the first round, but followed that with scores of 66, 69 and 68 to take a two shot win over Francisco Molinari (67), Patrick Reed (67) and Louis Oosthuisen (70).

Kevin Kisner, who led or had a share of the lead in the first three rounds, ballooned to a 74 and finished tied for seventh, four shots back.
