Johan Santana Throws No-Hitter

Left-hander Johan Santana became the first pitcher in the history of the New York Mets to throw a no-hitter on Friday night, as the Mets defeated the Mets defeated the St. Louis Cardinals, 8-0, at Citi Field, in New York, New York.

The no-hitter was the third this year, and the 275th in Major League Baseball history.

It's the first no-hitter thrown by a Mets' pitcher since they came into existence back in 1962, and now leaves the Tampa Bay Rays and the San Diego Padres as the only two teams never to have a pitcher throw a no-hitter.

The 32-year-old Santana, who missed all of 2011 recovering from an injury, walked five, and strikeout eight, while picking-up his second win of the year, against two defeats.
