Louisiana Troopers Seek Public’s Help, Offer Clue in Deadly Hit-and-Run
Louisiana State Police Troop D is asking for the public’s help in identifying the driver responsible for a deadly hit-and-run in Jefferson Davis Parish. Investigators say 53-year-old Bonnie Fontenot of Jennings was struck and killed sometime between August 22 and August 27, 2025, on the I-10 north frontage road just east of U.S. Highway 165.
Fontenot, who had been reported missing by the Jefferson Davis Parish Sheriff’s Office, died at the scene from her injuries.
Clues Point to Pickup or SUV
Forensic analysis has provided investigators with a critical clue: a piece of the suspect’s vehicle was recovered from the crash site.

Based on the evidence, troopers believe the vehicle may be a pickup truck or SUV, possibly green or turquoise in color, with noticeable damage to the front end and/or driver’s side.
Troopers say the vehicle may frequent the Iowa area or travel along U.S. 165, which could help narrow the search.
Police Urge Public Assistance
This investigation remains active, and authorities are pleading with the public to come forward. Anyone with information is urged to call Louisiana State Police Troop D at (337) 491-2511. Tips can also be shared anonymously through the LSP Fusion Center Hotline at 1-800-434-8007 or by submitting information online via the Louisiana State Police reporting system.
“Every detail matters,” Troop D emphasized, noting that even small observations from residents could help identify the driver and bring closure to the Fontenot family.
