Once you hear her voice, you will immediately know who the new cohost of NewsTalk 96.5 KPEL's morning show is.

NewsTalk 96.5 KPEL is entering a new phase today with the addition of a new staff member. She is no stranger to radio, and she is no stranger to news either.

Today is the first on-air broadcast day for Tracy Wirtz as she decided to join the radio station. Wirtz has a varied radio and television broadcasting history, and she was most recently the Manager of Public/Media Relations for Cox for our area.

You can hear Tracy Wirtz each weekday morning on KPEL both sharing the latest headlines and interviewing local and state newsmakers from various backgrounds.

In October 2018, Wirtz accepted a job with the news team at KLFY-TV 10 to anchor Meet Your Neighbor at noon during the week, and she also anchored the 5 p.m. newscast during the week. Before that, she worked for KATC-TV3 anchoring news during the morning show.

Tracy will be anchoring news throughout the morning from 6 a.m. until 9 a.m. on KPEL 96.5.

She brings decades of knowledge about our local community along with the political landscape in Acadiana and across our state.

Wirtz is married to Kevin Wirtz, and together they have three children, Bonnie, Terryn, and Cory.

Tracy loves to work the news desk, but the thing she loves even more than that is spending time with her 3 beautiful grandchildren. She is "Gigi" to them. Her grandchildren are 14, 1, and 8 months.

A moment of personal privilege here....I am extremely delighted to have Tracy join us on NewsTalk 96.5. I can't think of another person who will be as impactful to the future of this news and talk station as my friend, Tracy Wirtz. Welcome aboard Tracy, and bring on your wisdom, tenacity, fire, and kindness to create an even brighter future for KPEL!
