The Miami Heat had to withstand a 15 point deficit and a career performance from Rajon Rondo (44 pts, 10 ast, 8 reb) to win Game 2 of the Eastern Conference finals. LeBron James scored 34, pulled down 10 boards, and dished out 7 assists to lead Miami to a 115-111 overtime win over the Boston Celtics. The Heat now lead the best-of-seven series 2-0.

Dwyane Wade was big in the extra period, driving to the hole with his team up by only two. He was fouled by Kevin Garnett, made the bucket, then completed the three point play, all with less than a minute to go in overtime. (Pictured left) It was the defining moment of the game that helped propel the Heat to victory. Wade finished with 23 points. Point guard Mario Chalmers had 22.

Miami needed all they could get to overcome Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo. Rondo scored a career-high 44 points, including 12 in overtime. He accounted for all of Boston's scoring in the extra period. How historic was R0ndo's performance? He's the first NBA player in history to have 44+ points, 10+ assists and 8+ rebounds in a playoff game.

"It's kind of irrelevant," said Rondo of historical game. "We lost. It's as simple as that."

The Heat had just a little more in the tank than the Celtics. As a result, they go up to Boston for Game 3 on Friday with a 2-0 series lead. Tip-off is set for 7:30.
