The Tennessee Volunteers are looking for a new head football coach.

The news came about one day after Tennessee lost at Missouri, 50-17, dropping the Vols to 4-6, and putting them on the brink of being eliminated from postseason contention.

Tennessee is still winless in SEC play, at 0-6, with LSU and Vanderbilt remaining in conference play.

Hired at the end of the 2012 season, Jones had coached Tennessee to a 34-27 record in the span of five years, with a bowl record of 3-0.

The 49-year old Jones had two coaching stops before arriving at Tennessee, going 27-13 in three years at Central Michigan, before accumulating a 23-14 record over three years at Cincinnati.

A native of Saugatuck, Michigan, Jones has compiled a career mark of 84-54.

The Tennessee job is now the third coaching opening in the SEC. In addition to Tennessee and Florida, Ole Miss will also be looking to hire a new head coach after cutting the cord with Hugh Freeze before the start of the season.
