Sister Act! Venus, Serena Reach Aussie Final
The Willliams sisters are used to being in the tennis spotlight.
In the finals of the Australian Open, the spotlight will be on both of them.
Venus Williams has reached a Grand Slam Final for the first time since Wimbledon in 2009, defeating fellow American Coco Vandeweghe, 6-7, 6-2, 6-3. It' the first time Williams has been in the finals down under since 2003, and, at 36 years of age, she is the oldest woman ever to reach the finals at that tournament.
Meanwhile, Serena Williams had no problems reaching the final, dispatching Mirjana Lucic-Baroni of Croatia. 6-2, 6-1 in a match that lasted less than an hour.
It will be the 28th time the two have met as professionals, with Serena holding a 16-11 advantage. In Grand Slam finals, the margin is 6-2.
Serena will be looking to break at tie with Steffi Graf for the most majors in the modern era with 23. It would also put her just one behind the all-time leader, Margaret Court. The 35 year old would also reclaim the world's number one ranking with a win.
