A disappointing 2015 season officially came to an end for running back C.J. Spiller on Wednesday night, when the New Orleans Saints placed him on injured reserve.

Spiller has been hampered all season, trying to recover from arthroscopic knee surgery from the preseason.

The 28-year old Spiller signed a four-year, $16 million contract with the Saints during the offseason.

It hasn't exactly worked out however, as Spiller has accumulated only 351 total yards, including 112 rushing yards and 239 receiving yards, to go along with two touchdowns, in 13 games played.

In 6 career seasons, Spiller has amassed 3,433 yards and 12 touchdowns, while compiling 192 catches for 1,434 yards and another 8 scores.

Spiller's best season came back in 2012 with the Buffalo Bills, when he rushed for 1,244 yards and 6 touchdowns, along with 43 receptions for 459 yards and 2 touchdowns.

The Saints replaced Spiller on the roster by promoting second-year tight end RaShaun Allen from the practice squad.
