Pelicans Pick Up Christian Wood Off Waivers Following His Release
After being waived by the Milwaukee Bucks, forward Christian Wood didn't stay on the waiver wire long, as the New Orleans Pelicans scooped him up.
Averaging 2.8 points and 1.5 rebounds in 4.7 minutes per game over 13 game appearances for Milwaukee this season, the 6'10 Wood wasn't garnering enough minutes to remain on the playoff bound Bucks roster.
He did shine in the G-League this year for the Wisconsin Herd, averaging 29.3 points, 14.0 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 2.1 blocks and 35.3 minutes per game over 28 games.
New Orleans released Jason Smith to make room for Wood, who they hope to get a close look at over the final stretch of the season.
Wood is eligible to play on the Pelicans Summer League team.
Undrafted out of UNLV in 2015, the California native has spent time between the NBA and the G-League since.
