With the 2022 season coming to a close, the New Orleans Saints are already looking ahead to the future as their 2023 home and away opponents have been finalized.

The Saints fell to the Carolina Panthers in the season finale bringing their 2022 to 7-10, finishing third place in the NFC South. It was a season that saw Dennis Allen in his first year as head coach, a quarterback situation that we still haven't figured out since the departure of Drew Brees, and way more injuries than any team should ever have to endure.

And even with all of the aforementioned adversity, the biggest challenge the Saints faced all season was themselves. A handful of head-scratching, self-destructing plays, and mishaps stood between the Saints and a very attainable playoff run.

If there is any faintly shimmering silver lining, it's that the Saints seemed to figure things out and clean up the mistakes toward the back half of the season; and although it was too little too late, Dennis Allen described as the team being "not far off" in his end-of-season press conference.

Now that the Saints' season is over, they can start preparing for next year as their 2023 opponents have been finalized. In addition to their regular NFC South rivals, the black & gold will be matched up against teams from the NFC North and the AFC South.

On the road, the Saints will have an even split between indoor and outdoor fields, with only two of them posing any major weather threats or repeats of the frozen conditions the team endured in Cleveland. Let's hope that the games at Lambeau Field and Foxboro Stadium are scheduled as early in the season as possible.

2023 Saints away opponents:

Atlanta Falcons
Carolina Panthers
Green Bay Packers
Houston Texans
Indianapolis Colts
Los Angeles Rams
Minnesota Vikings
New England Patriots
Tampa Bay Buccaneers

NFL players have called the Caesars Superdome one of the hardest places to play because of the crowd noise and overall environment. Next season the Saints will host a group of teams that are also "not far off" by Dennis Allen's standards. While some of next year's visiting opponents still have question marks surrounding their organizations, much like the Saints they are just a few pieces away from being serious contenders.

2023 Saints home opponents:

Atlanta Falcons
Carolina Panthers
Chicago Bears
Detroit Lions
Jacksonville Jaguars
New York Giants
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Tennessee Titans

The offseason has already begun for the New Orleans Saints and the season will come into scope when dates and times are released for the New Orleans Saints 2023 NFL schedule over the next few months.
