Elfrid Payton To Undergo Surgery On Broken Finger, Will Miss 6 Weeks
New Orleans Pelicans starting point guard and Louisiana Ragin' Cajun alum Elfrid Payton will undergo surgery tomorrow on his left fifth finger and is expected to approximately miss the next 6 weeks, the team announced today.
Payton suffered a fracture to the finger early in the game in Friday's win over the New York Knicks. He had just returned from a sprained ankle that had kept him out of the previous 8 games.
If the 6 weeks timetable is accurate, Payton would return on January 2nd versus Brooklyn. The Pelicans play 22 games between now and then.
