Cubs To Name Rick Renteria Manager – VIDEO

The Chicago Cubs are expected to name Rick Renteria as their new manager on Thursday.

Renteria, who will turn 52 years old on Christmas Day, had been a member of the San Diego Padres' coaching staff since 2008, including the last three years as the bench coach, under Padres manager Bud Black.

As a former Major League Baseball player, Renteria hit a career .237, with four homer runs, and 41 RBI's while playing with the Pirates (1986), Mariners (1987-1988), and Marlins (1993-1994).

Renteria, who will become the 59th manager in franchise history (interim managers included), including the third in the last five years, replaces Dale Sveum, who had a record of 127-197 over two years, including a 66-96 finish in 2013.
