The NFL has cancelled the scheduled preseason game between the Dallas Cowboys and Houston Texans scheduled for Thursday night at AT&T Stadium in Arlington.

The game was originally scheduled for Houston but the venue was moved after Hurricane Harvey struck the south Texas coast.

It turns out the Texans will be able to get back to Houston sooner than expected.  They are driving back today after finding a safe route.

The league and the teams felt having the Texans go home to their families was more important than playing a preseason football game.

The game in Arlington was being billed as a charity event with proceeds going to Harvey relief.  About 40,000 tickets had been sold.  Fans will have the option of getting a refund or still designating it for Harvey relief.
