The New York Yankees and Texas Rangers clinched playoff spots on Thursday night, becoming the eighth and ninth Major League Baseball teams to do so, with only three days left in the 2015 regular season.

In New York, the Yankees defeated the Boston Red Sox, 4-1, to clinch an American League Wild Card berth, while recording the 10,000th victory in franchise history in the process.

Meanwhile, in Texas, the Rangers secured a playoff berth, the seventh in franchise history, by defeating the Los Angeles Angels, 5-3.
