It's time for the 2019 Acadiana Cane Cutters season as they got underway on the road on Wednesday night against the Victoria Generals and fell 4-3 in a rematch of the 2018 Texas Collegiate League Finals.

The team has a new Manager this season in Ricky VanAsselberg, he's managed at the pro level in the Minor Leagues and various other leagues as well.

He was nice enough to join me on The Word With G Wednesday to preview the 2019 season and to get to know him a little bit better as a coach:

The 2019 team will provide plenty of local flavor featuring these players from within the state of Louisiana:

-Tremaine Spears (OF): University of Louisiana

-Trace Henry (OF): Louisiana Monroe

- Champ Artigues (INF): Southeastern

-Zavier Moore (INF): Southern

-Tyler Thibodeaux (C): Northwestern State

-Noah Hughes (P): Southeastern

-Will Ripoll (P): LSU

-Keith Meir (P): UNO

-Bryson Broussard (P): LSUA (LSU of Alexandria)

-Austin Bollinger (P): Nicholls

-Jacob Norma (P): LSUA

-Gage Trahan (P): LSUE

-Bailey Holstein (P): UNO

-Nick Hill (P): Nicholls

-Evan Daigle (P): Northwestern State

If you can't make it out to Fabacher Field be sure to tune into all of the Cane Cutters home games on ESPN1420 all summer long.
